From the beginning when [Nate] came to give an estimate and talk about options for our dead lawn space, to the process of installing our new patio, to the follow-up to make sure we were happy and see if we had any questions, he was wonderful to work with! He was prompt, conscientious, and professional and was extremely communicative during the process.
Our patio is gorgeous and we get so many compliments on the transformation of the space. Highly recommend!

Our People

NATE FOURNIER: Owner, Reimagined Roots

With an extensive background in engineering, design, and construction, Nate found his purpose when he took his first Permaculture Design Course (PDC) with Geoff Lawton in 2014. He would convert back yards into whole human ecosystems, providing food, beauty, and function while creating symbiotic relationships with nature.

He has since completed three PDC’s, acquired his General Contractors license, and studied regenerative agriculture abroad. In early 2020, Nate began his professional venture into the rapidly growing field of Earth-care landscaping, as the owner of Reimagined Roots.

LUCY SMITH: Co-Owner, Reimagined Roots

Through her BA in Economics and Holocaust and Genocide Studies, Lucy’s investment in supporting those living in food deserts took her around the world, to Thailand, Hawaii, Costa Rica, studying permaculture. She was determined to re-engage people with indigenous wisdom of growing food and caring for the community.

After finishing her PDC at Finca Tierra in Costa Rica, Lucy began designing independently across the East Coast before teaming up with Nate to provide whole human habitats to the Reimagined Roots community in Central MA.

In Ancient Greek, "arete" is often translated as "excellence" or "virtue." It encompasses the idea of fulfilling one's potential, achieving the highest level of effectiveness, and contributing positively to various aspects of life, aligning well with the desire to maximize potential in individuals, ecosystems, and capabilities.
